It's time to write a longer piece in your notebook, a scene.
Think about the unexpected. Today, while exploring the Connecticut state library, I had to use the restroom. It was down the stairs, round a corner, and then down another set of stairs. Then it got confusing. The signs stopped and there was only a men's room in sight. I kept going.
Passed a friendly custodian who nodded and pointed me down the continually turning hallway. Round and round I went. And then this (see picture above). I stopped in my tracks. A safe?! This was no little safe. It was taller than me - holed up in the basement of the state library. There was absolutely no one around. I have no idea where I was.
What do you think is behind that safe? And why is it there, in the basement, where possible searching-for-bathroom people could get lost????
Here's one more for you to play with. It is said that the ghost of Governor Buckingham haunts the state Capitol. What does he do when he wakes up at night? What would you do if you had the place all to yourself?
